           The Best Of Ruskin Bond             Reading any book by Ruskin Bond is exhilarating and refreshing. It sublimely touches deeper layers of one’s psyche. This Book is a collection of poems, essays, short stories, extracts from novels, travel experiences, and an unpublished novella “Delhi is not far”. “Delhi is not far” is an ode to their hopeful dreams about the fabled journey to Delhi, the city of glorious destinies. The story is about a love affair in which there are no losers. It scrutinizes the depth of human relationships beyond blood and lineage. (Incomplete)  

                    The Fault In Our Stars                        The novel “the fault in our stars” is a fabulous work by John Green. It is a story of a teenage girl Hazel who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and attends a cancer support group at her mother's behest. Soon she realizes that is a good idea when she meets with Augustus Waters a 17 years old guy there.     Gradually they become affectionate with each other and agree to read one another’s favorite novels. Augustus gives Hazel “The Price of Dawn” and Hazel recommends “An Imperial Affliction” by Peter Van Hautman. After which, the main plot twist comes into the novel.        The “Fault In Our Stars”, is a reference to a line in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar Where Cassius says, “The fault, dear Brutus is not in our stars,/But in ourselves, that we are underlings.” Quite deep, is not it? Cassius seems to be saying that it’s not fate that dooms men, but instead their own failings. But this novel really made us bel

                      The Archer                                Brazilian lyricist and novelist Paulo Coelho is best known for his novel  The Alchemist . Coelho’s keen understanding of humanity’s yearning for enlightenment emerges again and again in his work. “Enlightenment” does not conform to the Western notion of happiness in the sense of “fun” or even “love” but is a quieter experience related to discovering one’s soul. The best thing about his work is the placing of quality dialogues and conversations and also the magnificent epilogue of every story.           I have read 3 books by Coelho, which are-   The Alchemist, The Spy, and The Archer, all of them are rich with life lessons and motivational. I would describe The Archer as a great motivational rather than just a story. Such simplicity in storytelling disguises a more complex message than how best to pull back a bowstring; it fosters an understanding of the higher self and a reverence for life’s many stages.        He

  পাতা ঝরার মরশুমে                                    পাতাঝরার মরশুমের শেষের দিকে এসে অবশেষে পড়েই ফেললাম বইটা  ।   যাদের কাছে  ‘ স্কুল জীবন '  এবং  ‘ ফুটবল' দুটোই খুব প্রিয় তাদের জন্য এই উপন্যাসটি আদর্শ ।   উপন্যাসটি পড়ার পর আমার অনুভূতি ছিল জি - বাংলার অ্যাংকর দের মতই। এককথায়  “ অতুলনীয় ,  অনবদ্য, অবিসংবাদী"    উপন্যাস ।  কুমার শানুর সুরে   “fata fatiiiii……”!!! আসা যাক উপন্যাসের কথায়,   এই গল্প চার বন্ধুর – দিয়েগো, ডূডূ, কবীর আর জ্যাকসনের। নঙ্গী হাই-এর হয়ে ওরা টমাস চ্যালেঞ্জ কাপ ফুটবল টুর্ণামেন্টে খেলবে চির প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী রবিন মেমোরিয়ালের বিরুদ্ধে। দিয়েগো সবচেয়ে ভাল ফুটবলার হলেও প্রথম ম্যাচে নঙ্গী হাই হেরেছে ওর জন্যেই। এই গল্প চোট পেয়ে খেলা ছেড়ে দেওয়া পুরুরও। পুরু নঙ্গী হাই-এর অস্থায়ী গেমস টিচার, রবিন মেমোরিয়ালকে হারালে তবেই তার চাকরি পাকা হবে। ওদিকে পুরুর প্রেমে প্রত্যাখ্যাত টাপুর নিতে চায় প্রতিশোধ। একটা ফুটবল ম্যাচকে কেন্দ্র করে বদলে যেতে থাকে প্রত্যেকের জীবন। কে জিতবে?   বাকিটা জানতে হলে চোখ রাখতে হবে উপন্যাসটি র  পাতায়  !!    

      শঙ্খনীল কারাগার                                     শঙ্খনীল কারাগার হুমায়ূন আহমেদের লেখা একটি মাস্টারপিস । সোমেন চন্দের লেখা অসাধারণ ছোট গল্প ‘ইঁদুর’ পড়ার পরই নিম্ন মধ্যবিত্তদের নিয়ে গল্প লেখার একটা সুতীব্র ইচ্ছা হয়। এর পরপরই নন্দিত নরকে এবং শঙ্খনীল কারাগার বই দুটি লিখে ফেলেন । বই দুটির বিষয়বস্তু সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা হলেও মিল হল মধ্যবিত্তদের নিয়ে লেখা । একই পরিবারের কতগুলো মানুষ কাছাকাছি থেকেও কেউ কখনো বুঝতে পারে না কার মনে কি চলছে? কারন প্রতিটি মানুষই তার নিজের চারপাশে এক অদৃশ্য দেয়াল তৈরী করে রাখে। এই যে প্রতিটি মানুষ নিজের চারপাশে এক অদৃশ্য দেয়াল তৈরী করে রাখে, যে দেয়ালের মধ্যে কখনো কেউ প্রবেশ করতে পারে না, যে দেয়ালের ভেতরের কথা গুলো কখনো কেউ জানতে পারে না— এই অদৃশ্য দেয়ালের নামই   শঙ্খনীল কারাগার।

              Tuesday With Morrie                          Let’s imagine two scenarios- 1) Hope you are going to leave a place forever, you will never be back there... What will you do...? If it was me I would visit my favorite people, and favorite places would try my favorite local foods, and will try to share some memorable moments......!! And everything you will do, it will be the last moment you spent there.... you will never get back those... Like you left your favorite restaurant the day before you leave, it was your last visit to that place... 2) Now imagine if there was a joyous event in your household, what will you do...??              অচিন পাখি                                        "মানুষ পৃথিবীতে যখন আসে তখন তার মনে অনেক আশা ,স্বপ্ন । সে কামনা-বাসনা নিয়ে বাঁচে । সে স্বপ্নকে সত্যে পরিণত করতে চায় । সে নিজের ঘর গড়তে চায় । সুখ দুঃখের একটা ঘর । ভালোবাসা পেতে চায় । ভালবেসে ধন্য হতে চায়, সুখী হতে চায়   চিরদিনের জন্য । কিন্তু জীবনের পিছনে আসে মানুষের শেষ পরিনতি, মৃত্যু। মৃত্যু যেন মানুষের সব আশা স্বপ্নকে মিথ্যে করে দিতে চায়। মানুষ বাঁচতে চায় পৃথিবীতে । ভালোবেসে পরিতৃপ্ত হতে চায় । মানুষের বাঁচার এই চিরন্তন প্রচেষ্টাই জীবনের লক্ষণ । জীবন মৃত্যুর মাঝে রয়েছে মানুষের ভালোবাসা, চিরন্তন আশান্বিত প্রেম । যা মৃত্যুকে অতিক্রম করতে পারে।।" আশা করি গল্পের ভূমিকায় লেখা এই লাইনগুলিই যথেষ্ট গল্প সম্পর্কে বলার জন্য । তবুও আরো নির্দিষ্ট করে যদি বলতে হয় বলবো পুরো গল্পটি যেন একটি ভাব-সম্প্রসারণ বিভিন্ন অর্থে এই লাইনটির- "খাঁচার ভিতর অচিন পাখী কেমনে আসে যায়। ধরতে পারলে মন-বেড়ী দিতাম তাহার পায়।।" আর লেখক সম্পর্কে বলব, শক্তিপদ রাজগুরু চিরকালই ছাপোষা মধ্যবিত্ত বাঙালির মাথা উঁচু করে বা

       পদ্মানদীর মাঝি                                            পদ্মানদীর মাঝি মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের 1936 সালে প্রকাশিত এক বিখ্যাত উপন্যাস, যা পদ্মা নদীর মাঝি ও জেলেদের দুর্বিষহ জীবন কাহিনী নিয়ে রচিত।   সাম্যবাদী ভাবধারায় দীক্ষিত লেখক মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের লেখায় সামাজিক অসাম্যের কথাই উঠে আসবে এটাই স্বাভাবিক | পদ্মা নদীর মাঝি উপন্যাসেও সামাজিক ভারসাম্যহীনতার নির্ভুল চিত্রাঙ্কিত হয়েছে। তবে উপন্যাসটিতে সামাজিক ভারসাম্যের তারতম্য ছাড়াও, এই অসাম্যের মধ্যেই অবহেলিত, বঞ্চিত মানুষগুলির জীবনবৈচিত্রের নিখুঁত বর্ণনা পাওয়া যায়। তাদের জীবন যেন নদীর মতই বয়ে চলা।   কে ঠিক বা বেঠিক ,ভাল বা খারাপ এই দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে কোন নির্দিষ্ট উপসংহার বা সিদ্ধান্তে আসা প্রায় অসম্ভব, কারণ এই উপন্যাসের কাহিনী পদ্মা নদীর মতই শাখা-প্রশাখায় বিস্তৃত হয়ে হঠাৎ অনন্ত জলরাশিতে বিলীন হবার মতনই । সব শেষে বলা যায়-    ‘অন্তরে অতৃপ্তি রবে, সাঙ্গ করি মনে হবে, শেষ হইয়াও হইল না শেষ’

      পুতুল নাচের ইতিকথা                                         মানিক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় একবার বলেছিলেন — “সত্যিই তো আর পুতুল নয় মানুষ। অদৃশ্য শক্তি বা অন্য মানুষের আঙুলে বাঁধা সুতোর টানে সত্যই তো মানুষ পুতুলের মতো নাচে না”   এই পুতুলের অদৃশ্য সুতো তবে কার আঙুলে বাঁধা? এর উত্তর জানতে হলে উপন্যাসের প্রধাণ চরিত্র শশী এবং আবর্তনে থাকা গাওদিয়ার মানুষের সাদামাটা জীবনযাত্রার গভীরতাকে পর্যবেক্ষণ করতে হবে। তাহলেই বুঝতে পারা যাবে এই অদৃশ্য দড়ি আসলে কোন অদৃশ্য শক্তির আঙুলে বাঁধা নেই, বাঁধা পড়ে আছে মানুষের নিজের হাতেই! মানুষ সব জেনেও পুতুল হয়ে থাকে – কখনো সমাজের চোখে, কখনো পরিবারের চোখে, আবার কখনো ভালোবাসার মানুষের কাছে। 

                       ঈশ্বরের মৃত্যু গল্পের ভূমিকাতেই লেখকের অকপট স্বীকারোক্তি যে তাঁর সৃষ্ট গোয়েন্দা চরিত্রটি শার্লক হোমসের দ্বারা অনুপ্রাণিত এবং প্রভাবিত, এমনকি চরিত্রগত বৈশিষ্ট্যের দিক থেকে প্রদোষ মিত্রের সাথেও জ্যোতিষ্ক সেনের কিছু কিছু মিল লক্ষ্যনীয়। আসা যাক কাহিনী সম্পর্কে । ১৯৬৫ সালে সাত বছর বয়সী একজন নিখোঁজ হয় মফঃস্বলের এক মেলা থেকে। দীর্ঘ তেইশ বছর পরও তার অন্তর্ধান রহস্যের কোনো কিনারা না করতে পেরে পুলিশ কেসটিকে abandoned হিসাবে ঘোষণা করে। এদিকে বেশ ক’বছর নিরুদ্দিষ্ট থাকার পর আচমকা বাড়ি ফিরে জ্যোতিষ্ক সেন নিছক কৌতূহলবশত ঘাঁটতে শুরু করেন এই অমিমাংসিত ঘটনা নিয়ে। কিন্তু ক্রমেই সেখানে আঁচ পাওয়া যায় এক গভীর ষড়যন্ত্রের। অতঃপর অনুসন্ধান এবং সবশেষে সমাধান।

The novel may seem to be slow but the only spoiler I can give is this novel is about a '90s kid's love story when a cellphone was a myth.                 The Blue Umbrella                                              The Blue Umbrella is one of the masterpiece novellas of ‘Indian William Wordsworth' Ruskin Bond. Only a genius can bring out the best from nothing and so Ruskin Bond. Just an ordinary event has become extraordinary with brilliant representation. This is a novella consisting of only 33 pages but enough to give us a great lesson. The Blue Umbrella is a short and humorous novella set in the hills of Garhwal, where ordinary characters become heroic, and others find opportunities to redeem themselves. Life is not only about living your own life or your own happiness. We are so confined in our own lifestyle that we never get the leisure to think of others. Moreover moral of the story is you can never be happy by making someone sad. “দিবে আর নিবে, মেলাবে মিলিবে “

             The Alchemist                                             The story deals with an internal conflict between his love and personal dreams, but this novel ends up showing love as a supporting tool for achieving his dream. This is a beautiful idea that true love can prove to be a great stimulus when the time comes. According to Coelho dreams have a price, but not living your dreams have an even bigger price. The idea of seeking dreams is marvelous. Pursuing your dream and committing to it makes the whole universe conspires to give you what you want.   One of the dangerous hindrances described in the novel is fear. The fear of failure stops us from living our destiny. Overcoming this is a great victory as Coelho quoted -  “tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of dreams because every second of the search is a second encounter with God and with eternity”
